Conversing

In communities, people talk to each other. The healthier the conversations, the healthier the community. Healthy conversations are those that give encouragement, share knowledge, solve problems, and collaborate. They ask questions, point out opportunities, and offer support. It may appear as if our primary focused has been technology. However, what we've really focused on is making room for more conversations.

The newly redesigned Women In Business magazine and its digital counterpart create an opportunity for members to chat about topics that have high interest to women and high relevance to the mission of ABWA.
With the launch of newly redesigned Women In Business magazine in January, we have created an opportunity for members to chat about topics that have high interest to women and high relevance to the mission. In each of our bimonthly publications, we've made it a priority to recognize the accomplishments of members and share lessons learned from successful business leaders like Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, tennis pro Billy Jean King, and basketball coach Pat Summitt. Simply by clicking on any page of the digital magazine, you can write a note and send an email with the page attached to a friend, colleague, or business associate. What a nifty way to start a conversation. Technology has made this possible!

The Women's Instructional Network (WIN) is the first of its kind, and ABWA is the first Association to use this type of technology.

With the April 24, 2009, launch of Women's Instructional Network (WIN), you now have a place to learn at your own pace and on your own schedule. In WIN, you can track your own performance and download your certificates and transcripts. WIN is the first of its kind and ABWA is the first Association to use this type of technology. Most importantly, in WIN, we've also created a portal for group conversations; one that is safe and secure. Here, you can talk about what you're learning and what you need to know.

What else are we doing to provide an opportunity for more conversation? In 2009, we set up a Facebook page and started twittering. Currently, we have hundreds of women following us on both of these popular social networks. This is the real advantage of technology, and this is how we will use it to strengthen our community rather than replace it.
